Kochi, 06 December (HS): Rahul Easwar, whom friends and followers address as Kerala Gandhi, made a volte face on Saturday and told a Thiruvananthapuram court that he was willing to fall in line and withdraw the posts he had made in his social media ridiculing the victim who was raped and molested by Rahul Mamkootathil MLA.
Easwar withdrew the second bail plea he made to the District Sessions Court when the Court pointed out that it was illegal to do so as he had already moved a bail plea in the additional magistrate court.
The self styled Kerala Gandhi had committed a hara-kiri when he told the court during the hearing of anticipatory bail plea moved by him that he has not done anything illegal and was campaigning for Rahul Mamkootathil MLA who is being victimized by the latter’s rivals.
Easwar, hailing from the clan of Sabarimala Thanthri had made many social media posts blaming the victim for the rape and abortion. When he was denied bail by the court, the Kerala Gandhi declared that he would observe fast till he was released on bail.
Though he spent the first two days of incarceration without taking any food or water, the police administered drip on him to make sure that nothing untoward happens to his health.
On Saturday Rahul Easwar complained of uneasiness and the cops rushed him to Medical College where he was administered medical aid and afterwards he was taken back to the prison.
By the third day of his imprisonment, the Kerala Gandhi felt exhausted and reportedly started taking food during night hours.
Since he grew up amidst plentiness and luxury, the social activist could not cope with the tough life in prison.
The prosecution wanted to get him in police custody for interrogation to which the scion pleaded with the Court not to hand him over to police. “I am ready to remove the entire posting from my social media pages. I posted the same inadvertently without knowing the consequences,” Easwar told the Court on Saturday.
But the prosecution was against any reprieve for him in this case and told the court that it is impossible to believe his version that he was unaware of the consequences. Rahul Easwar and his antecedents brought some comic relief amidst the Rahul Mamkootathil controversy.
