IndiGo Flight Service Crisis:All Departures Halted Till Midnight Amid Nationwide Chaos

Chennai, 6 December (H.S.) : IndiGo has resumed partial flight operations at Chennai airport, commencing early Sunday morning, following a complete suspension of services on Saturday afternoon. The halt was necessitated by a severe nationwide shortage of cockpit and cabin crew, which has caused flight disruptions across the country for the past four days.

Despite the partial return to service, the airline announced the cancellation of 48 flights scheduled to operate to and from Chennai on Sunday. This included 28 departures to major destinations such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad, as well as 20 incoming flights. The first flight to depart under the resumed schedule was a 3 a.m. service to Pune, with subsequent flights restoring connectivity to cities like Ahmedabad, Guwahati, and Kochi.

While the disruption has caused significant inconvenience and crowding at the airport, passengers noted that the advance announcement of the Sunday cancellations offered some relief. IndiGo has communicated that the number of cancellations is expected to decrease gradually, with the airline targeting a return to a regular flight schedule by December 10.
