New Delhi, 6 December (H.S.):

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday launched a large-scale road washing and cleaning campaign along the city’s Ring Road, marking a major step in the government’s ongoing war against air pollution. The initiative, organized by the Public Works Department (PWD), commenced at the Khyber Pass Chowk in Civil Lines, where the Chief Minister actively participated in the operation.

Sharing details on her official account on X, Chief Minister Gupta described the move as a crucial measure toward making Delhi pollution-free and ensuring effective dust control. She added that regular road washing, mechanized cleaning, and strict ground-level monitoring are being carried out across the city with increased intensity and urgency.

Accompanying the Chief Minister were Cabinet Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh and MLA Surya Prakash Khatri, who also took part in the initiative. The Delhi government emphasized that its battle against pollution is “a continuous and determined effort.”

Under the Ring Road Washing Campaign, the PWD is cleaning roads, footpaths, central verges, and washing trees and shrubs along both sides of the entire Ring Road. This marks the first time such an extensive, synchronized cleaning and washing operation has been conducted along the entire stretch.

The drive involves the use of advanced mechanized equipment to ensure efficiency and thorough dust control.Officials stated that the primary objective of the campaign is to curb dust pollution and improve Delhi’s overall air quality through sustained and organized road maintenance.
