
Sultanpur, 6 Dec (HS): A lady died and many people
were injured after their bus, coming from the Ram shrine in Ayodhya, crashed
head-on with a vehicle here on Saturday morning, police said. The vehicle was
transporting roughly 40 pilgrims who are claimed to come from Maharashtra's
Jalgaon district. All pilgrims were heading to Prayagraj after viewing the Ram
shrine in Ayodhya. Around 4 a.m., a speeding vehicle crashed with the bus at
the Kurebhar crossroads on the Ayodhya-Prayagraj route. A female passenger died on the spot, and numerous others were injured,
according to authorities, who added that the crash was so violent that both the
bus and the truck toppled.
Locals rushed to the scene and began rescuing the passengers trapped in the
upturned bus.
They said that around 15 pilgrims were injured in the event. An ambulance
promptly transported wounded passengers to the Kurebhar Community Health
Centre, where a team of physicians treated them all. Varsha Kiran Patil (45), a
Pune resident, died during treatment, according to SHO Kurebhar Jaywant Mishra,
who also stated that the deceased's body had been submitted for a post-mortem
test.
When the Kurebhar police squad learned about the tragedy, they went to the
scene and hired a crane to remove the overturned bus and trailer off the
roadway, then began rescue efforts.
The wounded are: Kokila Bai (68), Jarga Bai (67), Yojana Bai (54), Manju Bai
(40), Ratna Bai (54), Raju (35), Anita (40), Podam Singh (54), Sarita Bai (55),
and Asha Bai (65). Doctors transferred Kokila, Sangita, Anita, Archana, and
Ratna to the Government Medical College for further treatment, while five
others had minor injuries, according to the police.
