New Delhi, 5 December (H.S.): The Patiala House Court in Delhi on Friday extended the National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) custody of Red Fort blast accused Shoaib Ali for another ten days. Ali’s earlier custody period concluded today, following which he was produced before the court.
Earlier, on November 26, the court had remanded Shoaib Ali to NIA custody until December 5. So far, the NIA has arrested seven accused in connection with the case. All of them remain in NIA custody as investigators continue interrogations to unravel the broader conspiracy behind the attack.
On November 18, the Patiala House Court had sent Jaseer Bilal Wani, also known as Danish — an associate of the suicide bomber Dr. Umar Nabi — to 10 days of NIA custody. Wani had been arrested from Srinagar.
According to NIA officials, Danish had made key technical modifications to drones and attempted to prepare a rocket prior to organizing the car bombing. The agency said he played a crucial role in executing the plot in collaboration with Umar Nabi.
The agency further revealed that Danish, a political science graduate, had been brainwashed by Umar Nabi to turn into a suicide operative. In October 2024, he met members of the Doctor Module in a mosque in Kulgam before being taken to Al-Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana, to stay and assist in the planning.
The Red Fort blast occurred on November 10 when an I-10 car exploded near the historic monument. The vehicle was registered under the name of Aamir Rashid Ali. The explosion claimed the lives of 13 people and left 32 others injured.
