New Delhi, 5 December (H.S.):

Russian President Vladimir Putin received a majestic tri-services guard of honour at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday morning, underscoring the profound strategic partnership between India and Russia during his 28-hour state visit.

The elaborate ceremonial welcome, executed with precision by the President's Bodyguard, featured uniformed personnel from the Army, Navy, and Air Force standing in impeccable formation as Putin inspected the guard amid resounding national anthems.

President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally received Putin at the presidential palace, embodying the highest traditions of state protocol and the deep personal rapport between the leaders.

This grand reception followed Putin's arrival on Thursday evening, where Modi broke convention to greet him at Palam Airport with a warm embrace, setting a tone of exceptional camaraderie.

The tri-services ceremony highlighted India's military precision and the enduring defence alliance, forged since the 2000 Strategic Partnership declaration and strengthened through joint ventures like BrahMos missiles.

Putin, visibly impressed, exchanged salutes and brief remarks with the honour guard, symbolising mutual respect amid global geopolitical shifts. This pivotal protocol event preceded his tribute at Rajghat and the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit with PM Modi.
