Chennai, 5 December (H.S.) : The District Collector's office in Coimbatore was the target of a hoax bomb threat sent via email on Thursday. The threat, which warned of an imminent explosion, caused alarm when a staff member noticed the email in the morning and alerted the Coimbatore city police.
The threat immediately triggered a response from the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), who, along with a sniffer dog, conducted a thorough search of the entire premises. The search concluded that the threat was false.
This incident marks the 12th hoax bomb threat the Coimbatore collector's office has received in recent times, according to officials involved in the investigation. A similar threat was also reported during the recent visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the city.
