Guwahati, 04 December (HS): The Assam Home Department has banned three active jihadi organisations with immediate effect based on specific intelligence inputs received from the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Assam Police. The move is being seen as a significant step towards safeguarding internal security and maintaining peace in the state.
According to the notification issued by the Home Department, Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh, Ansarullah Bangla Team and Ansar-al-Islam—linked to Al-Qaeda—have been declared banned organisations in Assam. The decision follows information revealed by the state’s judicial department, which stated that CID had detected confidential communications and objectionable activities involving these groups, posing a threat to state security.
The directive further states that any form of propaganda carried out by these banned organisations through any medium will now be considered a serious offence under Section 18 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. The Home Department has urged all citizens to stay away from any activities associated with these outfits.
