
New Delhi, 4 December (H.S.): President Droupadi Murmu will address the Human Rights Day 2025 celebrations as the chief guest at a special event organised by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India at Bharat Mandapam on December 10.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the NHRC said that a national conference on the theme “Ensuring Everyday Essentials: Public Services and Dignity for All” will also be held on the occasion. The theme aligns with this year’s global Human Rights Day focus — “Human Rights: Our Everyday Essentials.”
The Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary, Dr. P. K. Mishra, will deliver the keynote address at the conference, which will include two thematic sessions. These discussions will centre on ensuring universal, equitable, and dignified access to public services as a key element in upholding human rights for all.
Participants will include representatives of state and union territory human rights commissions, other national commissions, senior government officials, human rights defenders, civil society members, academics, professionals, and media representatives.
The NHRC has opened online registration for attendees until 10:00 AM on December 9, with confirmed participants receiving e-invites via email.Human Rights Day is observed each year on December 10 to commemorate the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in 1948 — one of the world’s most widely referenced international documents.
