Maduro emphasized that such interactions signal progress toward respectful state-to-state discussions, welcoming diplomacy despite longstanding tensions exacerbated by US sanctions, military threats, and actions against alleged drug-trafficking vessels linked to Venezuelan networks.

The revelation follows reports that Maduro proposed his departure from power in exchange for full legal amnesty for himself and his family, alongside sanctions relief and resolution of an International Criminal Court case, though Trump reportedly rejected these demands amid intensified pressure on Caracas.
