New Delhi, 4 December (H.S.): Domestic equity markets witnessed an upward momentum in early trading hours on Thursday after a volatile start. The session opened on a weak note, but a surge in buying interest shortly after the opening bell lifted both benchmark indices, the Sensex and Nifty, into positive territory.

By 10:00 AM, the Sensex had gained 0.19 percent, while the Nifty was up 0.17 percent.Leading performers in early trade included TCS, Asian Paints, Tech Mahindra, Hindalco Industries, and JSW Steel, with gains ranging between 0.57 percent and 1.32 percent.

On the downside, shares of Max Healthcare, InterGlobe Aviation, Titan Company, Hindustan Unilever, and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd (TMPV) slipped between 0.17 percent and 1.20 percent.As of 10:00 AM, active trading was observed in 2,135 stocks across the market.

Among these, 1,045 were trading in the green, posting gains, while 1,090 stocks were in the red. Out of the 30 Sensex constituents, 19 were advancing under sustained buying support, whereas 11 were facing selling pressure. Similarly, of the 50 Nifty components, 31 were trading higher and 19 lower.The BSE Sensex opened 119.25 points down at 84,987.56 but quickly recouped losses as buying activity picked up.

Despite intermittent profit-booking, the index maintained its position in the green through the morning session. By 10:00 AM, it had risen 165.25 points to 85,272.06.Mirroring the Sensex’s trend, the NSE Nifty opened marginally weaker by 4.15 points at 25,981.85 and dipped further to 25,938.95 before rebounding.

Supported by renewed buying momentum, the index turned positive, trading 43.05 points higher at 26,029.05 by 10:00 AM.On Wednesday, the previous trading session had closed with minor losses. The Sensex slipped 31.46 points or 0.04 percent to settle at 85,106.81, while the Nifty fell 46.20 points or 0.18 percent to 25,986.
