Los Angeles, 4 December (H.S.): Salvador Plasencia, the doctor who supplied ketamine to late Friends actor Matthew Perry shortly before his fatal overdose, was sentenced Wednesday to 30 months in prison. Plasencia, who procured the drug off-label at inflated prices, was condemned for neglecting his medical duties despite not administering the lethal Rose.

The sentencing followed revelations of Plasencia's callous attitude, including text messages expressing concern over how much Perry would payfor the drug, highlighting a troubling disregard for the actor's well-being amid his ongoing battles with addiction. Perry's family criticized Plasencia for failing to say no when intervention was desperately needed.

Plasencia’s legal team acknowledged his serious mistakes during the 13 days of treatment, while other involved parties—including a suspected Ketamine Queen supplier—face forthcoming sentences. Perry’s prolonged struggle with substance abuse, detailed in his memoir, ended tragically with his death in October 2023, eliciting widespread grief and renewed awareness of addiction's complexities.
