
New Delhi, 4 December (H.S.): The air quality in Delhi-NCR continues to deteriorate, with the capital recording an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 304 on Friday morning, placing it in the 'Severe' category. Surrounding areas also reported hazardous pollution levels.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Bagpat registered an AQI of 307, Ghaziabad 302, Greater Noida 285, Gurugram 293, Hapur 336, and Noida 308. All these cities fall within the 'Very Poor' to 'Severe' pollution range.
The Meteorological Department forecasted mainly clear skies on December 5, with light fog in the morning and intermittent cold wave effects at various locations. Delhi’s maximum temperature is expected between 22 and 24 degrees Celsius, and the minimum between 4 and 6 degrees Celsius.
Winds will blow from the northwest at 10-12 km/h throughout the day.On December 6, partly cloudy conditions are expected with morning fog. Temperatures will range from 23 to 25 degrees Celsius during the day and 7 to 9 degrees Celsius at night, with winds from the northwest at 15 km/h.
Per CPCB standards, AQI values from 0 to 50 are considered ‘Good’, 51-100 ‘Satisfactory’, 101-200 ‘Moderate’, 201-300 ‘Poor’, 301-400 ‘Very Poor’, and 401-500 ‘Severe’.
Vehicle emissions contribute 20.45% of total pollution in Delhi, while crop stubble burning accounts for 1.97%, construction and demolition activities for 3.10%, and residential emissions for 5.30%.
