Karbi Anglong (Assam), 31 December (HS):

A dead body was recovered in Diphu during the early hours of Wednesday, the last day of the year, triggering concern in the area.

The body was found inside a drain along a newly constructed road. According to sources, morning walkers noticed a person lying inside the drain along with a motorcycle and immediately alerted the authorities.

The identity of the deceased has not been established so far. Police reached the spot soon after receiving information and initiated an investigation. Further details are awaited as the probe continues.---------
