New Delhi, 3 December (H.S.): The Ministry of Women and Child Development announced a 100-day intensive awareness campaign on Wednesday to build a child marriage-free India, set for formal launch tomorrow at Vigyan Bhawan by Union Minister Annpurna Devi in the presence of Minister of State Savitri Thakur.
Marking one year of the Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat initiative launched on November 27, 2024, the event will feature a national pledge against child marriage, a documentary on success stories, and testimonials from grassroots champions, with live streaming on webcast.gov.in/mwcd.
Structured in three phases from November 27, 2025, to March 8, 2026, the campaign targets schools and colleges first for debates and pledges, then engages faith leaders and marriage providers on child rights, and finally mobilizes panchayats and wards to declare areas child marriage-free.
Coordinated with ministries of health, panchayati raj, rural development, and education, the drive calls on citizens, institutions, and leaders to join for sustained action toward empowered, educated daughters.
