New Delhi, 3 December (H.S.): The central government appointed senior advocate Madhav Khurana as Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) on Tuesday to represent the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the Lal Kila car blast case before trial courts and the Delhi High Court, for a three-year term or until case conclusion.
The November 10 explosion near Lal Kila, which killed 15 people and injured others in a Hyundai i20 registered to accused Aamir Rashid Ali, has seen NIA arrest seven suspects aiding suicide bomber Dr. Umar Nabi from Pulwama, including Jaseer Bilal Wani alias Danish from Srinagar, remanded to 10-day custody on November 18.
NIA investigations reveal Danish modified drones, prepared rockets, and was brainwashed by Umar at Kulgam mosque before relocation to Faridabad's Al-Falah University; he resisted earlier radicalization citing financial woes and Islamic prohibitions on suicide. Aamir aided with the car procurement, as probes uncover a multi-layered terror network with 73 witness statements recorded.
