
New Delhi, 3 December (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid heartfelt tributes to India’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, on his birth anniversary, recalling his monumental contribution to the nation’s freedom movement and constitutional development.
Honouring Dr. Prasad’s legacy, the Prime Minister said that from being an active participant in India’s freedom struggle to chairing the Constituent Assembly and serving as the nation’s first President, he exemplified dignity, dedication, and clarity of purpose in public life.

Dr. Rajendra Prasad, born on December 3, 1884, in Ziradei, Bihar, was a prominent lawyer, scholar, and one of the foremost leaders of India’s independence movement. As the President of the Constituent Assembly, he played a vital role in framing the Indian Constitution and went on to serve as the country’s first President from 1950 to 1962. His life was defined by simplicity, humility, and an unwavering commitment to national unity and Gandhian values.
