
New Delhi, 3 December (H.S.): Global markets presented mixed signals on Wednesday, with US indices closing higher on tech sector strength while European benchmarks ended unevenly and Asian trading remained divided.
US markets rebounded in the previous session, driven by gains in technology stocks. The Dow Jones rose nearly 190 points to close strong, the S&P 500 advanced 0.23% to 6,828.26, and the Nasdaq climbed 138.98 points or 0.60% to 23,414.90. Dow Jones futures traded up 150.64 points or 0.32% at 47,625.10 early Wednesday.
European markets closed with varied results after trading under pressure. The FTSE index dipped marginally by 0.01% to 9,701.80, the CAC 40 fell 0.28% to 8,074.61, while the DAX surged 121.42 points or 0.51% to 23,710.86.
Asian markets showed a split performance, with five of nine major indices in positive territory and four in decline. Gift Nifty weakened 130 points or 0.50% to 26,076.50, Hang Seng dropped 254.05 points or 0.98% to 25,841, and Shanghai Composite eased 0.09% to 3,894.22, while SET Composite slipped 0.05% to 1,276.93. Nikkei rose 766.55 points or 1.55% to 50,070, Kospi gained 1.27% to 4,046.47, Taiwan Weighted advanced 0.55% to 27,715.96, Straits Times climbed 0.24% to 4,548.73, and Jakarta Composite increased 0.23% to 8,636.88.
