Lakhimpur (Assam), 29 December (HS): On Monday morning Police have arrested ten miscreants in connection with an attack on a police team at Bongalmora in Assam’s Lakhimpur district late Saturday night while the personnel were attempting to detain a fake gold trader.

According to police, the incident occurred at Ramzan Tiniali when a group of people allegedly assaulted the police and forcibly freed the accused, identified as Baharul alias Ambani, who was involved in fake gold trading.

During the attack, the Officer-in-Charge of Bongalmora Police Outpost, Gokul Jayashree, sustained serious injuries. The driver of the civilian vehicle accompanying the police team was also critically injured.

Police said further investigation is underway and efforts are on to trace the remaining persons involved in the incident and to re-arrest the absconding fake gold trader.----------
