
Delhi, 26 December (H.S.): India’s foreign exchange reserves rose for the third consecutive week, increasing by $4.36 billion to reach $693.31 billion in the week ended December 19, according to data released by the Reserve Bank of India on Friday.
The RBI said the country’s forex reserves rose by $4.368 billion during the reporting week to $693.318 billion. In the previous week, reserves had increased by $1.69 billion to $688.95 billion.
Foreign currency assets, a major component of the reserves, increased by $1.64 billion to $559.43 billion during the week.
The RBI said the value of gold reserves rose by $2.62 billion to $110.36 billion.
According to the data, special drawing rights increased by $80 million to $18.74 billion, while India’s reserve position with the International Monetary Fund rose by $95 million to $4.78 billion during the week.
