Assam Pradesh Congress in-charge Jitendra Singh on Friday made it clear that the Congress would forge alliances only with political parties that share its ideology and thought process.

Speaking on alliance strategy, Singh said seat sharing would be decided strictly on the basis of electoral strength and the chances of victory of candidates in respective constituencies. He asserted that the Congress believes in a practical and realistic approach while finalising alliances, keeping the larger political objective in mind.

The Congress leader’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions within the opposition camp regarding alliance formation and seat adjustments ahead of the upcoming elections in Assam.
