
Srinagar, 26 December (H.S.): Saksham Jammu & Kashmir organised its provincial meeting at Nagrota near here, today.
The meeting witnessed participation of the entire provincial team, including district presidents, district secretaries, district treasurers, and all district in-charges of Saksham Jammu & Kashmir.
The programme was graced by the presence of MLA, Nagrota Assembly constituency, Ms Devyani Rana, as the chief guest. The event was further dignified by the presence of Swami Vishvanathan (Utter Kheter Sangathan Mantri/ Varisht Pracharak RSS), Abhay Pargal (national joint secretary, Saksham, Dr. B. D.
Sharma, patron, Saksham Jammu & Kashmir, Pawan Dev Singh, president, Saksham J & K and Sunil Singh, general secretary, Saksham J&K who presided over the function.
Addressing the gathering, Devyani Rana appreciated the dedicated and selfless work being carried out by Saksham Jammu & Kashmir for the empowerment and dignity of Divyangjans. She became emotional while remembering her late father, Devinder Singh Rana, former MLA of Nagrota, and recalled his lifelong commitment to public service. She assured the gathering of her continued association with Saksham Jammu & Kashmir and reaffirmed that all possible Government schemes and welfare measures for Divyangjans would be extended in the future.
During the session, Abhay Pargal and Swami Vishvanathan highlighted the remarkable journey and achievements of Saksham at the national level since its inception in 2008.
Abhay Pargal further highlighted various welfare initiatives undertaken by Saksham across the country for the holistic development and dignified life of Divyangjans.
Swami Vishvanathan guided the gathering on strengthening organisational structure at district and tehsil levels and emphasized the formation of district committees.
The speakers also highlighted the major achievements of Saksham including establishment of Eye Banks at GMC Jammu and GMC Srinagar, setting up of Divyang Sewa Kendras in all active districts of the Jammu region, successful operation of mobile eye-care ambulance services in district Reasi, in collaboration with Seva International, through which more than 10,000 beneficiaries have received eye check-ups and cataract surgeries.
