Born on December 25, 1861, in Allahabad to a scholarly Brahmin family, Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya—affectionately called Mahamana—rose as a multifaceted luminary: a four-time Indian National Congress president, founder of Banaras Hindu University in 1916, and ardent advocate against social evils like untouchability while promoting Hindi and cultural revival .
He participated in the Round Table Conferences, championed compulsory primary education, and earned the Bharat Ratna posthumously in 2015 for his contributions to independence and nation-building until his death on November 12, 1946 .
