New Delhi, 23 December (H.S.): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday alleged that, similar to neighbouring Bangladesh, Hindus in Trinamool Congress-ruled West Bengal are facing targeted violence.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters, party spokesperson Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi said that the continuing attacks on minority communities in Bangladesh have deeply alarmed people in India and gravely hurt and angered Hindus within the country. He noted that in response, peaceful protests and sit-ins are being organised across India.

Condemning these incidents, he termed it “unfortunate” that the INDI alliance has allegedly made the eradication of Sanatan Dharma its ideological goal.Dr. Trivedi accused the West Bengal government and the state police of resorting to “brutal action” against peaceful demonstrations by Hindu organisations, calling such conduct “condemnable”.

He recalled that Trinamool Congress leader Firhad Hakim had once described a constituency as a “mini-Pakistan”, and alleged that under Trinamool rule “many mini-Pakistans” are being created in the state. He further claimed that just as Jamaat-e-Islami in Bangladesh is allegedly involved in targeted violence against Hindus, the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal is engaging in targeted action against Hindus.

According to him, in Bangladesh Hindus are being attacked under the cover of political circumstances, while in West Bengal “some pretext or the other” is being used to justify targeted violence against the community.
