Dhaka/New Delhi, 22 December (H.S.): Ousted Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound anguish over the violence that erupted following the funeral of her Awami League ally Sharif Usman Hadi on Saturday at Dhaka University's grave of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, accusing the Yunus interim government of failing to curb the unrest and steering the nation toward chaos.

Hasina lambasted the administration for undermining democracy through politically motivated decisions, asserting that legal proceedings against her constitute vengeance rather than justice. She described Hadi's death as a tragic murder emblematic of the lawlessness that toppled her government and has intensified under Yunus, where violence has become commonplace and threatens to destabilize Bangladesh from within.

Hasina underscored that India awaits the cessation of this anarchy, atrocities against minorities, and the dismantling of bilateral achievements forged during her tenure. She warned that a government's inability to maintain basic order within its borders erodes its international credibility, encapsulating the stark reality of Yunus's Bangladesh.

Without Awami League participation, she declared, any election would amount to mere coronation rather than genuine democracy, depriving the resultant regime of moral legitimacy to govern.

Addressing Indo-Bangla diplomatic strains, Hasina attributed them squarely to Yunus, whom she accused of shielding radical elements, releasing convicted terrorists from prisons, and imperiling the country's secular identity—a peril she cautioned extends gravely to India and South Asia's broader stability.
