
Mumbai, 20 December (H.S.): Former India captain Rohit Sharma has been named in Mumbai’s squad for the first two matches of the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy. The team will be led by all-rounder Shardul Thakur, while several fresh faces have also been given an opportunity by the selectors.The Mumbai outfit features talented players such as Sarfaraz Khan, Musheer Khan, and promising young batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi.
However, notable names including Ajinkya Rahane, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Ayush Mhatre are missing from the squad. Despite their absence, the selectors have opted for a balanced mix of experience and youth.Among the notable inclusions is Chinmay Sutar, who represented the India Emerging Team in four List-A matches back in 2019.
Additionally, upcoming batter Ishan Mulchandani and fast bowler Omkar Tarmale have been drafted into the side. It is worth mentioning that Tarmale was recently bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad during the IPL auction.The team also includes experienced campaigners like Siddhesh Lad, wicketkeepers Hardik Tamore and Akash Anand, as well as the dependable spin duo of Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian, giving the Mumbai side a solid core.
Placed in Group C, Mumbai will begin its Vijay Hazare campaign on December 24 in Jaipur against Sikkim, followed by its second fixture against Uttarakhand on December 26.
