Washington, 2 December (H.S.): The White House confirmed on Monday that US President Donald Trump will attend the highly anticipated final draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scheduled for this Friday at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. The tournament will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, marking a historic event in global football.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated, “President Trump will participate in the FIFA World Cup final draw at the Kennedy Center this Friday.” Trump has made the World Cup a key priority during his second term, highlighting it as a major attraction during the United States’ 250th anniversary celebrations in 2026.

Despite the excitement surrounding the tournament, the event has not been immune to political controversies. President Trump previously suggested relocating matches away from certain US host cities, particularly those governed by Democratic administrations, citing concerns over crime and illegal immigration in those areas.

The final draw ceremony at the Kennedy Center is expected to bring together global media, team officials, and fans from the 16 host cities, underscoring the significance of the tournament as the world’s largest single-sport event. FIFA President Gianni Infantino will also be present alongside the US President.

As the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches, stakeholders remain focused on delivering a memorable and inclusive tournament, with Washington playing a central role in the global football spectacle.
