New Delhi, 2 December (H.S.): Silver prices witnessed a sharp upward trend in the domestic bullion market on Tuesday, nearing the Rs 2 lakh per kilogram mark in Chennai amid robust demand and global cues. The precious white metal saw only a marginal decline of about Rs 100 per kg today, reflecting strong market sentiment across regional trading centers.

Across India, silver is currently trading between Rs 1,87,900 and Rs 1,96,100 per kilogram. In Delhi, prices have surged to Rs 1,88,100 per kilogram. Similarly, in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata, silver is trading at around Rs 1,87,900, while in Jaipur, Surat, and Pune, it is hovering near Rs 1,88,200 per kilogram. Bengaluru quoted prices at Rs 1,88,400 per kilogram, whereas Patna and Bhubaneswar reported levels around Rs 1,88,000.

The highest prices in the country continue to be recorded in Chennai and Hyderabad, where silver touched Rs 1,96,100 per kilogram—a new milestone approaching the Rs 2 lakh level.Bullion market expert Mayank Mohan noted that silver is no longer confined to jewelry or religious use but has evolved into an essential industrial metal.

“Silver is increasingly used in mobile phones, computer chips, electronic devices, and solar panels. Its growing role in technology and manufacturing has significantly boosted consumption,” Mohan explained.

He further added that this rising industrial demand has had a direct impact on prices, which have been consistently climbing in recent months. Analysts believe the trend is likely to continue as global investment and industrial usage expand, keeping silver in strong demand across both retail and industrial markets.
