Delhi, 2 December (H.S.): On the second day of the winter session, the Lok Sabha was adjourned until Wednesday after repeated disruptions triggered by opposition demands for discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists.
Although proceedings resumed at 2 pm following two earlier adjournments, noise and protest from opposition members gathered near the Speaker’s podium escalated quickly, halting the session within five minutes.
Deputy Speaker Dipali Saikia appealed to opposition members to maintain decorum and allow the House to function smoothly, emphasizing that the nation is watching and expects meaningful debate on their concerns.
Despite the repeated requests, the uproar continued, compelling the Deputy Speaker to suspend the session at 2:05 pm until 11 am the following day.The disruptions highlight the persistent tensions surrounding electoral roll revision debates amidst the ongoing winter session, underscoring the challenge to balance parliamentary discipline with pressing demands for electoral reforms discussions.
