Mumbai, 2 December (H.S.): An IndiGo flight traveling from Kuwait to Hyderabad was forced to make an emergency landing at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Tuesday following a bomb threat. The threat came via an email warning of an explosive device on board, prompting swift action from airport authorities and security agencies.
The Airbus A321 aircraft, operating as flight 6E1234 with 228 passengers and six crew members on board, safely touched down in Mumbai early morning. After landing, the plane was moved to an isolation bay, where bomb disposal squads alongside the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) began thorough inspections to ensure the safety of all passengers and airport personnel.
All passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft, and alternate arrangements are being made for their onward journey. While IndiGo has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident, airport security remains heightened amid a surge in hoax bomb threats reported across India in recent months.
The Mumbai emergency landing follows similar recent incidents, including another bomb threat that led to a Bahrain-Hyderabad flight being rerouted to Mumbai. Authorities are investigating the legitimacy of the threat and maintaining rigorous security protocols to ensure public safety.
This incident underscores the constant vigilance required in airport security in the face of evolving threats, with officials assuring passengers and the public that safety remains the highest priority.
