On the occasion of Assam Day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, among several other leaders, extended their greetings to the people of Assam through social media platform X.

Amit Shah said Assam Day recalls the glorious legacy of the Ahom era and reinforces the state’s commitment to preserving its unique cultural identity. He added that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership over the past nine years, Assam has entered a new era of peace and has emerged as a hub of education and development.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju remarked that the entire nation takes pride in the heritage of the Ahom dynasty. He noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Sarma, Assam is witnessing rapid progress and transformative growth.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the double-engine government at the Centre and in the state has made continuous efforts to highlight Assam’s historical legacy on the global stage. He reiterated his commitment to carrying forward the glorious heritage of the Ahom dynasty.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta lauded Assam Day as a symbol of the administrative excellence of the Ahom period. She said the state has now entered a phase of lasting peace and accelerated development, becoming a major hub for learning, connectivity, and opportunity in the Northeast.

BJP MP Sambit Patra also conveyed his greetings to the people of Assam, calling the occasion a celebration of the state’s rich Ahom heritage. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Assam has made remarkable progress in peace, development, and new opportunities.

Assam Day, observed annually on December 2, commemorates the year 1926 when the British administration separated Assam from the Bengal Presidency, declaring it a distinct province. Also known as Asom Divas or Ahom Divas, the day stands as a symbol of the state’s unity, language, culture, and identity.
