
Mumbai, 18 Dec (HS): Maharashtra Governor Acharya
Devavrat paid rich tributes to renowned sculptor Ram Sutar, who died on
Thursday morning. Sutar’s dedicated work brought recognition to Indian art
across the world. For his mastery over the art he was honoured with Padma Shri
and Padma Bhushan civilan awards.
Sutar was recently conferred the Maharashtra Bhushan
award. His creations of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in Delhi’s Parliament House
premises, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s Statue of Unity and other are examples of
his mastery over the art, the Governor said. His creations will keep his
memories alive.
Devavrat consoles his family members for the loss.
