Mamata Banerjee's 15 years: Suvendu Adhikari lists 'economic failures'

Kolkata, 18 December (H.S.): BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's 15-year tenure on Thursday on the social media platform X. He alleged that West Bengal, once the 'industrial jewel' of India, has now become a debt-ridden state.

In his post, Suvendu Adhikari wrote, Mamata Banerjee has buried WB under ₹7.71 LAKH CRORE of Debt (305% explosion since she inherited), chaining every newborn in WB with a per head debt of ₹76,766 before their first cry.

For every ₹100 the State of WB earns, ₹38 vanishes into repayment - double the FRBM limit, while key Departments related to Infrastructure such as Roads (2.2% budget allocation), Energy (1.2% budget allocation), and Irrigation (1.7% budget allocation) crumble. She further stated that out of every 100 rupees earned by the West Bengal state, 38 rupees are spent on debt repayment – which is double the FRBM limit – while key infrastructure-related departments such as roads (2.2 percent budget allocation), energy (1.2 percent budget allocation), and irrigation (1.7 percent budget allocation) are crumbling.

Suvendu alleged that the Chief Minister spent ₹1.07 lakh crore in three years for vote bank politics, while neglecting real development. He said that factories are fleeing: 6,688 companies have shifted to Maharashtra and Gujarat.

The BJP leader targeted the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS), saying, BGBS? A ₹24 LAKH CRORE mirage with just 3% delivered. Singur's ghosts continue to haunt us - barren land, jobs lost, while she parades fake MoUs.

Suvendu claimed that the CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General) has exposed the plunder: understated deficits, hidden borrowings, and a plethora of scams. Our youth are migrating as 'migrant workers' while Mamata Banerjee's trips to London and Spain yielded zero results.

At the end of his post, Suvendu Adhikari said that West Bengal deserves economic reforms, employment, and factories, not fiscal fraud. Therefore, Bachate Chai BJP Tai (To be saved, we need BJP).

As of the time of writing, there was no official response from the Trinamool Congress or Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding these serious allegations.
