The Achit Nagar Post Office, located within the campus of Acharya Institute of Technology, has been completely redesigned under the initiative to bring postal services closer to the younger generation in a more digital, accessible, and engaging form.According to the Ministry of Communications, the Gen-Z Post Office has been conceptualized as a vibrant and modern space that departs from the traditional postal setup. The facility features a café-like interior with free Wi-Fi, comfortable seating spaces, laptop and mobile charging points, and a coffee vending machine. A “book booth” within the premises also offers books and board games for visitors. The walls are adorned with student-created artwork depicting Bengaluru’s cityscape, the identity of India Post, and symbols of the Acharya Group of Institutions.To meet digital needs, the post office includes self-booking kiosks, a QR code-enabled instant payment system, and a dedicated My Stamp counter, where visitors can design and print personalized stamps. These features align with Gen-Z’s “do-it-yourself” mindset and preference for quick, digital transactions.The post office was inaugurated on December 17 by Prakash, Chief Postmaster General of the Karnataka Postal Circle, in the presence of Dr. Bhagirathi V., Academic Director of Acharya Group of Institutions.Speaking on the occasion, Surya, Senior Superintendent of the Bengaluru West Division, noted that students played an active role in conceptualizing and designing the facility. The initiative, she said, was tailored to enhance convenience, creativity, and accessibility for students. On-site services such as parcel packaging are expected to save time and make shipping more efficient and secure for those on campus.
