Siliguri, 18 December (H.S.). Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has arrived in Siliguri to participate in programmes organised as part of the completion of 100 years of the organisation. During his visit, a series of organisational and ideological interactions are being held across North Bengal, focusing on dialogue with youth and members of society’s distinguished sections.

Bhagwat reached Siliguri on Wednesday afternoon. After his arrival, he did not interact with the media and proceeded directly to Matigara. Senior RSS office bearers from the North Bengal province accompanied him. He is currently staying in the Matigara suburban area. According to RSS provincial officials, Bhagwat will take part in various programmes over the next two days, provide guidance to young volunteers, and hold discussions with selected members of society. All programmes are being conducted on an invitation-only basis.

On Thursday morning, a special programme for youth from the North Bengal province was organised at the Centenary Hall of Sharda School on Sevoke Road. Around 5000 to 7000 young volunteers participated in the event. The RSS chief reached the venue at around 10.30 am and addressed the gathering on organisational discipline, social responsibility, and the role of youth in nation building.

On Friday, Bhagwat is scheduled to interact with nearly 200 distinguished individuals invited from different parts of North Bengal. The invitees include intellectuals associated with the RSS and society, academicians, doctors, lawyers, writers, and respected members from various communities. Several Padma Shri awardees are also part of the list. Among them is Padma Shri awardee Nagendranath Ray, a resident of Shivmandir, who translated the Ramayana into the Rajbanshi language.

RSS office bearers clarified that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is a non political organisation and its objective is nation building through individual development.
