KISS Student Murder Case: JMFC Court Rejects Bail, Eight Accused Remanded to Jharpada Jail


Bhubaneswar, 18 December (H.S.): In a significant development in the murder case of a Class IX student at the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), a Bhubaneswar Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court on Thursday rejected the bail applications of eight accused, including an Additional CEO of the institute.

Following the court’s order, all eight were remanded to judicial custody and sent to Jharpada Jail, sources said.

Those remanded include KISS Additional CEO Pramod Kumar Patra, TGT teacher Binay Kumar Gochhi, senior academic coordinator Prasanna Kumar Malla, teacher Pradeep Kumar Das, KISS Secondary School headmaster Rashmiranjan Nayak, hostel assistant field officer Hemant Kumar Mahapatra, boys’ hostel supervisor Shubhakanta Behera, and assistant teacher Sujata Mishra.

Meanwhile, police have also detained three students in connection with the case. They are being subjected to sustained interrogation as investigators continue efforts to ascertain their precise role in the incident.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
