New Delhi, 18 December (H.S.): The Patiala House Court in New Delhi on Thursday sent Yasir Ahmad Dar, arrested in connection with the Red Fort blast case, to National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody till December 26.Dar was produced before the court following his arrest by the NIA. Principal District and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna granted the investigating agency’s request for custodial interrogation and remanded the accused to NIA custody.
According to officials, the NIA had apprehended Dar from Srinagar, marking the ninth arrest in the ongoing investigation into the Red Fort explosion. All the accused are currently in custody as the agency continues to question them in an effort to unravel the entire conspiracy behind the attack.
Earlier, on November 18, the Patiala House Court had sent Jaseer Bilal Wani, also known as Danish, an associate of alleged suicide bomber Dr. Umar Nabi, to NIA custody. The agency alleges that Danish played a crucial role in the plot, making technical modifications to drones and attempting to develop rockets before the car bomb blast near the Red Fort.
Investigations indicate that Danish, a political science graduate, was radicalized by Umar Nabi, who persuaded him to join the terror module. In October 2024, Danish reportedly met members of the “doctor module” at a mosque in Kulgam, after which he was transported to Al-Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana, where he stayed while assisting in preparations for the attack.
The explosion took place on November 10 near the Red Fort when a Hyundai i10 car, registered in the name of Amir Rashid Ali, detonated. The powerful blast claimed 13 lives and left 32 others injured, leading investigators to describe it as one of the most severe terror incidents in recent years.
