Prayagraj,
18 Dec (HS): A five-day farmer training program organized under the ATMA scheme
for the farmers of Saharsa district, Bihar, was inaugurated from December
18-22, 2025 at the Directorate of Extension, Sam Higginbottom University of
Agricultural Technology and Sciences, Prayagraj.
Addressing
the farmers at the inaugural ceremony of the above training program, Chief
Guest Dr. Praveen Charan, Director of Extension, informed the farmers about
natural farming, stating that the five important sources of cow-based natural
farming are Jeevamrit, Beejamrit, Achhadan, Vafsa, and intercropping, which are
the basic foundation. Natural farming is a direction and process of farming
based on a more local, flexible, and adaptable agro-ecology. Natural farming
provides solutions to various problems such as food insecurity, farmer
distress, and health problems caused by pesticide and fertilizer residues in
food and water, global warming, climate change, and natural disasters. It also
has the potential to generate employment, which can prevent rural migration.
Natural farming, as the name suggests, is the art, practice, and rapidly
growing science of working with nature to achieve more with less.
Dr.
Shailendra Kumar Singh, scientist Dr. T.D. Mishra and Dr. Sarvendra Kumar also
gave information to the farmers. Scientists of Extension Directorate Dr.
Shishir Kumar, Dr. Shailendra Kumar Singh etc. were present in the program and
guided the participating farmers.
