Prayagraj,
18 Dec (HS): City and district Congress workers clashed with the police and
laid siege to the local BJP office after the court refused to take cognizance
of the ED chargesheet against top leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and five
others in the National Herald case.
It
was foiled. As soon as the Congress workers gathered at Subhash Chowk at 1 pm
and moved towards the BJP office, they clashed with a heavy police force. The
party workers were raising slogans like Down with Narendra Modi,
Vote thief, leave the throne, Shame on NDA government,
etc. The Congress workers had barely moved 100 steps ahead when a heavy force
from Civil Lines police station along with the ACP forcibly stopped them. After
a lot of struggle, the police did not let them go beyond Lucky Sweets, during
which many workers fell and got injured. The Congress workers sat on the road
but the police removed them from there.
Later,
a meeting chaired by city president Fuzail Hashmi condemned the police action
at the behest of the government and called it anti-democratic. It was stated
that Prime Minister Modi had been dragging the fake National Herald case filed
by Subramanian Swamy for 11 years, in which no money was exchanged, nor did any
party financially benefit, yet a money laundering case was fabricated to create
a false narrative. The court also dispelled this narrative, refusing to take
cognizance of the ED's charge sheet and dismissing it. Congress members alleged
that Rahul and Sonia Gandhi were interrogated for 80 to 90 hours in this
fabricated case as a vindictive act, without even knowing that an FIR had been
filed.
Congress
members stated that the case, founded without legal basis, collapsed under its
own weight. The government has been exposed by this malicious and illegal
action. Congressmen also said that Congress neither fears nor is afraid of
anyone. District presidents Ashok Patel and Ashfaq Ahmed, Sudhakar Tiwari,
Kishore Varshney, Harkesh Tripathi, Mukund Tiwari, Sanjay Tiwari, Parvez
Siddiqui, Shekhar Bahuguna, Irshad Ullah, Sharad Upadhyay, Arshad Ali,
Rammanorath Saroj, Md. Naseem, Pratima Tripathi, Afroz Ahmed, Rakesh
Srivastava, Shahnawaz Qureshi, Sushil Tiwari, Ishtiyak Ahmed, Nayan Kushwaha,
Nagendra Mishra, Ahmedullah, Amar Singh Patel, Saurabh Srivastava, Mukhtar
Ahmed, Vishal Sonkar, Rizwana Begum, Nasreen Bano, Daraksha Qureshi, Sambhav
Sahu, Ramanand Yadav etc. were present.
