Lucknow,

18 Dec (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while addressing the

inaugural ceremony of the centenary celebrations of Bhatkhande University of

Culture, Lucknow, on Thursday, said that his government will honor and

encourage artists. The Chief Minister said that his government is committed to

providing a safe, respectful, and empowering environment for artists. He said

that he will work for the welfare, health, and access to a platform, training,

and livelihoods for artists.

Yogi

Adityanath said that when the country was under slavery, there was no platform

for music and art. At such a time, Pandit Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande did the

work of giving a global identity to the classical tradition of India. He gave a

scientific basis to Indian music. He gave classical discipline and a

well-organized curriculum. He did the innovative work of connecting the

Guru-Shishya tradition with the modern education system. In fact, the

historical effort to give self-respect, self-esteem and stability to the Indian

culture was started at that time by Pandit Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande.

The

Chief Minister said that when we dance, we see Shiva in the form of Nataraja.

When we tune the veena, we see Goddess Saraswati in person. When we deliver

dialogue in a play, we see the dignity of Ram. When we are immersed in a

certain rasa, we see the flow of Krishna's rasa joining us. He said that the

first sound of the universe is Omkar. This is what spirituality and science

say. The world is subject to sound. Recognizing that sound is the practice

performed through different genres of music. He said that the soul of a nation

lies in its culture. If culture is separated from the life of a nation, the

nation loses its identity. India's sound and rhythm have given continuity to

its identity.

On

the occasion of inauguration of the centenary year celebrations of Bhatkhande

Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Lucknow, a coffee table book based on the 100 years

of development journey of the university was released. On this occasion, the

exhibition was inaugurated, a special cover prepared by the Postal Department

were released. Former students who made outstanding contributions were also

honored. Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh, Lucknow Mayor Sushma

Kharwal, MLC Mukesh Sharma, MLC Lal Ji Prasad Nirmal and Padma Vibhushan Dr.

Sonal Mansingh were present on this occasion.
