Murshidabad, 18 December (H.S.): The 149th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) deployed along the India-Bangladesh international border in South Bengal achieved a significant success by seizing a consignment of the narcotic cocaine. Acting on intelligence inputs, the force recovered a total of 316 grams of cocaine, with an estimated international market value of approximately Rs 1.5 crore.

According to official sources, personnel from the BSF’s Lawangola outpost received information about a suspicious individual allegedly storing narcotics at a residence in Char Binpara village. Prompt action was taken, and a thorough search of the house and surrounding area was conducted in the presence of two independent witnesses.

During the search, a suspicious package was recovered about two meters from the house. Upon opening, the package was found to contain cocaine. No arrests were made at the scene. The seized narcotic has been handed over to the concerned authorities for further legal action following due process.

A public relations officer of the South Bengal frontier stated that BSF personnel remain vigilant and committed to preventing smuggling along the India-Bangladesh border. Continuous monitoring and strategic operations have successfully thwarted several major smuggling attempts. The force remains fully prepared to ensure security in the border areas.
