SYDNEY/JERUSALEM, Dec 14 (HS): Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Sunday condemned the deadly shooting at Sydney’s Bondi Beach, describing it as a “cruel attack on Jews” and urging Australian authorities to intensify efforts against antisemitism.
Speaking at an event in Jerusalem, Herzog said, “At these very moments, our sisters and brothers in Sydney, Australia, have been attacked by vile terrorists in a very cruel attack on Jews.” He called on Australia to “fight against the enormous wave of antisemitism which is plaguing Australian society.”
Australian authorities, however, have not officially confirmed that the attack specifically targeted the Jewish community. Police have said investigations into the motive behind the shooting are ongoing.
