Washington, Dec 11 (HS): US President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced a new visa programme called the “Trump Gold Card,” claiming it will generate billions of dollars for the American treasury. The President said the programme will offer a direct pathway to citizenship for eligible and verified applicants.

Trump unveiled the initiative in the Roosevelt Room of the White House in the presence of business leaders. In a post on Truth Social, he wrote, “The Trump Gold Card from the US government is here today. A direct path to citizenship for all eligible and verified people. American companies will be able to retain their talent. The live site opens in 30 minutes.”

According to Trump, the new card will function similarly to a green card but offer “much greater benefits.” He said the programme will help attract talented individuals to the United States, while the revenue generated will significantly strengthen the government’s finances.

Applications for the Trump Gold Card have opened on the official website. Individual applicants must pay USD 1 million (about ₹9 crore), while company-sponsored applicants must pay USD 2 million (about ₹18 crore). In addition, a non-refundable processing fee of USD 15,000 is required.
