House Uproar: Anurag Thakur Accuses TMC MP of Using E-Cigarette Inside Lok Sabha

New Delhi, Dec 11 (HS): Tensions flared in the Lok Sabha on Thursday after BJP MP Anurag Thakur accused a Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP of using an e-cigarette inside the House. Thakur, without naming the MP, said that e-cigarettes are banned across the country, and using one within the Lok Sabha complex is a clear violation of parliamentary decorum.

Raising the issue during Question Hour, Thakur asked Speaker Om Birla whether the use of e-cigarettes inside the House had been permitted. He claimed that the TMC MP had been seen using an e-cigarette inside the Lok Sabha for several days and demanded an investigation.

Speaker Om Birla responded firmly, stating that smoking of any kind is neither allowed nor part of parliamentary tradition inside the House. He said appropriate action would be taken if evidence of such an incident is submitted. The Speaker also urged all members to uphold parliamentary rules and traditions.
