
Siliguri, 11 December (H.S.) : A man who had allegedly travelled from Bihar to smuggle drugs into the Khoriabari area of Siliguri subdivision was arrested by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) on Wednesday night. The accused, identified as Mohammad Shamim, is a resident of Kishanganj district in Bihar.
According to SSB officials, Shamim had arrived in the Dumuria area near the Ghoshpukur–Khoriabari State Road to execute a planned drug handover. Acting on a tip-off, an SSB team intercepted him before the exchange could take place. During the search, the troopers recovered 103 grams of brown sugar from his possession.
The accused was immediately taken into custody and later handed over to Khoriabari Police along with the seized narcotics. Based on a complaint filed by the SSB, the police have arrested Shamim and initiated a detailed investigation into the drug trafficking network.
The case is now being probed by Khoriabari Police.
