New Delhi, December 11 (HS): On the fourth trading day of the week, Thursday, the domestic stock market closed on a positive note. The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex surged 426.86 points (0.51%) to close at 84,818.13, while the National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty gained 140.55 points (0.55%) to settle at 25,898.55.

Among the 30 major Sensex-listed companies, shares of Kotak Mahindra Bank, Eternal, Maruti Suzuki India, Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, UltraTech Cement, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, Sun Pharmaceuticals, and Tech Mahindra witnessed gains.

Meanwhile, stocks of Bharti Airtel, Asian Paints, Titan, ITC, Axis Bank, and ICICI Bank declined.

In Asian markets, Japan’s Nikkei 225, China’s SSE Composite, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng, and South Korea’s KOSPI all closed in the red. International benchmark Brent crude fell by 0.63%, trading at $61.82 per barrel.

A day earlier on Wednesday, the Sensex had slipped 275.01 points (0.32%) to close at 84,391.27, and the Nifty declined 81.65 points (0.32%) to end at 25,758.
