Guwahati, 11 November (HS): The Assam government on Thursday distributed financial assistance to 442 former BLT cadres residing outside the BTC region at a programme held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra. The grants were handed over by Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah and BTC CEM Hagrama Mohilary as part of the state’s rehabilitation initiative.

Minister Mallabaruah, speaking on behalf of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, thanked the former cadres for returning to the mainstream and choosing the path of peace and development. He highlighted that since 2020, various peace accords—including the NDFB, Karbi, Adivasi, DNLA and ULFA agreements—have brought over 9,000 cadres back to normal life.

He said the state is witnessing unprecedented development and investment as peace takes root. Each former BLT cadre received ₹2 lakh in assistance to build a self-reliant future. Senior officials including DGP Harmeet Singh, ADGP Hiren Nath and ACS Ajay Tewari were also present at the event.
