New Delhi, 10 December (H.S.): A United States trade delegation arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday for a two-day visit to resume discussions on the proposed India–US bilateral trade agreement. The latest round of talks aims to address tariff-related concerns and expand overall economic cooperation between the two strategic partners.

According to official sources, the delegation is led by newly appointed US Deputy Trade Representative Ambassador Rick Switzer, whose visit marks a renewed effort to strengthen trade ties between the two countries.

During the visit, Switzer and his team will meet senior Indian government officials and policy representatives. The discussions will be co-led by Assistant US Trade Representative for South and Central Asia, Brendan Lynch, and India’s Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce, Darpan Jain, who serves as the country’s chief negotiator for trade dialogue. The talks, scheduled for December 10–11, will cover a full spectrum of trade issues including tariffs, market access, investment facilitation, and supply chain resilience.

Both nations are reportedly working toward a long-term objective of doubling bilateral trade from the current USD 191 billion to USD 500 billion by 2030.

Notably, the United States retained its position as India’s largest trading partner for the fourth consecutive year in the 2024–25 fiscal year, reflecting deepening commercial and strategic engagement between the two economies.
