New Delhi, 1 December (H.S.): A 31-kilometer section of the Delhi-Saharanpur-Dehradun Economic Corridor from Akshardham to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway was opened for trial runs to general vehicular traffic from Sunday night to Monday morning. Upon removal of barricades, vehicles began flowing smoothly on this newly accessible stretch.

Official sources informed Hindusthan Samachar that while the entire expressway remains under construction and is being developed in multiple segments, the first operational section has been made available for public trial. Once fully completed, this 210-kilometer six-lane expressway is expected to reduce the travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from the current 6.5 hours to just 2.5 hours.

Spanning approximately 210 kilometers, this highway is one of India’s most ambitious infrastructure projects, with an estimated cost of around ₹13,000 crore. It incorporates modern amenities including emergency assistance, restaurants, fuel stations, and other essential facilities along the route.

The project pays special attention to environmental standards, ensuring ample greenery throughout the corridor. Work on subsequent phases is progressing rapidly to achieve timely completion.
