Kolkata, 9 November (H.S.): Union Minister of State for Education, Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, alleged that the Trinamool Congress is trying to fabricate stories to stop the ongoing SIR campaign in West Bengal.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Sukanta Majumdar said, SIR has already been implemented in 13 states across the country. It is a process administered by the Election Commission of India. If the TMC says it is harassing the people of West Bengal, isn't it also harassing the people of other states? Citizens in other states are accepting it because the process has been completed there multiple times.

He further said, The TMC is actually trying to fabricate a story to stop the SIR. If they have any objections to this process, they should approach the Election Commission or the court. The names of legitimate Indian citizens should be included in the SIR list, and those who are not Indian citizens should be removed. A special arrangement should be made for refugees, as West Bengal is a special state.
